About Kathy Rappaport and
Flash Frozen Photography
I have developed a great passion for all things photographic. Those who meet me me can feel my enthusiasm because it's contagious. My images have focused on people - children and family events - weddings and celebrations as well as my personal projects including our travels, landscapes, architecture and of course, pets. Being behind my lens and creating that special photograph, telling the story of a place or time and moments to be shared really gives me pleasure - and sharing the result of my vision with my clients! The day I deliver albums, prints and canvas just watching my subjects relive the moments captured is next best to the special moments they were created! Sharing that excitement is so much fun.
My journey as a photographer began when I was small and fascinated with my mother's little Kodak Brownie. My first formal photography class was in high school and I have always had a camera close by. My dogs have been my most willing subjects. I have had several of my images published (and Kodak will be publishing a series of my images in 2008) but I am most proud of the work that my clients choose to display in their homes and on their walls.
In 2001, my husband bought a new camera to take to on a cruise to Alaska. Once I borrowed it, there was no giving it back to him. On arriving home from our trip, we began taking professional level classes and I continually study all the many aspects of the art of photography: lighting, portraiture, photojournalism, Wedding Photography or composition and I want to continue learning more all the time - it will be a never ending quest for me. Technology and style change constantly and so it will not stop.
I opened Flash Frozen Photography, Inc. at the urging of several of my mentors. Weddings, Events, Celebrations and Portraits of people and pets, on location and in our studio are what we love to do. From Babies and Maternity to Intimate Photography to multi generational family portraits - creating heirlooms. In 2008 we opened our studio and fine art gallery in Woodland Hills, California.
I’ve been behind the lens as long as I can remember, looking for light and just the right image to capture. For me, photography is about freezing a moment in time, the essence of a place, or an emotion from love and laughter to the contemplative moments. I like to balance my style between the Modern, Photojournalistic style of today with just a touch of more traditional style images that I believe are timeless and will always be cherished. I want to tell a story with my photos - capturing the personalities of the people and the essence of the day so that your family will remember it as if it were yesterday even if it is 50 years from now. I want my art to be something special for my clients for many years beyond the day we take your pictures.
There is nothing more captivating to me then a bride ready to walk down the aisle or a child with eyes lit up and face full of wonder.
When time passes by, your children and grandchildren grow up, I hope that you will have some Flash Frozen memories to remember that event, that wedding, that age, that special person....
