Studio Prints
Picky! Finicky! Perfection! Finished! Made to Last! And true to what you see and I have created!
Yes, that is what it is. Quality Control. A great finished product. It's one important aspect of photography that sets my images apart from someone with a compact camera and a drugstore lab with one hour prints.
I have invested not only in years of photographic education to give my clients the best photography available but also the most advanced professional equipment and software for creating works of art from my images for you to treasure for years to come. I have invested hours of time in researching the labs that I use to print my images. The chemicals and printing process is critical. Paper of utmost importance. Th e files I produce for my lab are adjusted to their printing methods - settings such as "color space" and "resolution" and "aspect ratios". They all have to pass my quality control for an end product to be proud of. One that will archive for years and have the polished look you demand from professional photography.
Remember in the film days you sent your film to a place that did "Photo Finishing?" Well, the digital cameras of today are computerized and while they create files you can take for printing, they really aren't "finished". Maybe you see a photo and it looks okay to you but what the online printer returns to you is just not the quality that I want to see my images produced. The lab and it's process are just as important to the finished image as my eye was in creating it. Colors can be muddy and dull, images not sharp and crisp, Many consumer labs frequently stretch out how often chemicals are changed out, paper used in printing doesn't creat e archival prints that last for 50 years or fade with exposure to ordinary household lighting and the sun that streams through the window, The color might not match what you see on screen here or from your proofs.
When you place an order for images via my web site, my lab lets me know you've done so and gives me the ability to go in and edit the image - crop it, polish it - make the colors pop, make the eyes sparkle and the skin tone match your true skin tones and not be off base. I've selected the paper that will last and look good without fading or peeling.
If you've commissioned me to create portraits for you, they will be ordered directly from me and my product is a custom finished "Studio Print". It will be mounted on matboard or masonite, finished and textured and lustre sprayed for long term protection from fading and the elements. Images directly ordered can also be Gallery Wrapped Canvas (my favorite way to display images and breathtakingly beautiful), Custom framed and matted with a selection of beautifully hand chosen custom frames which will be shown to you at our preview.
So when you ask me for digital negatives, please understand that images don't just come out of a camera ready to be printed. I make that happen for you with the final image. It's a part of the service aspect of great art. A professional wants to provide a finished product that they are proud to have their signature on and one you'll be thrilled with on your wall, as an advertising piece, in your album or on your desk..
